This traditional rhyme, sung by children since the 17th century refers to the English equivalent to our 23-F.  Just like Lieutenant Colonel Tejero and his Guardias Civiles tried to blow up Spanish transition to democracy, Guy Fawkes was caught in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament with several dozen barrels of gunpowder on the 5th of November 1606.


Esta rima tradicional, cantada por los niños desde el siglo XVII se refiere al equivalente Inglés de nuestro 23-F. Al igual que el teniente coronel Tejero y sus guardias civiles intentaron sabotear la transición española a la democracia, Guy Fawkes fue capturado en los sótanos de las Casas del Parlamento, con varias docenas de barriles de pólvora el 5 de noviembre de 1606.

This conspiracy, known as the Gunpowder Plot, was organized along with Robert Catesby two years before. The goal was simple, assassinating King James I along with most of the Protestant aristocracy who had driven Fawkes' Catholicism to be a persecuted religion.

Esta conspiración, conocido como la Conspiración de la Pólvora, se organizó junto con Robert Catesby dos años antes. El objetivo era simple, el asesinato de Jaime I, junto con la mayor parte de la aristocracia protestante que había llevado al catolicismo de Fawkes a ser una religión perseguida.



A few days before the opening of parliament a letter warned one of the few Catholics in parliament not to attend. This alerted the rest of parliament members and the day before the opening, the Parliament was searched and under the parliament premises the final preparations for the plot were caught.

Guy then was arrested, tortured and forced to rebel some names of the conspirators, most of them dead and others who were persecuted by the government. That night entered into the history of England as a day to celebrate the night that the traitors were executed with the burning of "the guy", a recreation of  Guy Fawkes, in bonfires.


Unos días antes de la apertura del Parlamento una carta advirtió a uno de los pocos católicos en el parlamento para que no asistiera. Esto alertó al resto de los miembros del parlamento y el día antes de la inauguración, el Parlamento fue registrado y en los sótanos del Parlamento se destaparon los preparativos finales para la trama.
Fawkes luego fue detenido, torturado y obligado a rebelar los nombres de los conspiradores, la mayoría de ellos muertos y otros que fueron perseguidos por el gobierno. Esa noche entró en la historia de Inglaterra como un día para celebrar la noche en que los traidores fueron ejecutados con la quema de "the guy", una recreación de Guy Fawkes, en hogueras.
